WIW WI Meeting
Elaine Tully President: Quote from 1600 Proverbs; “Money, like manure, does no good until it is spread.”
Roll Call was, Share a tip on handling money/finances. Only buy what you can afford to pay for in cash when using a credit card. Think before buying. If you see something you want, wait on buying it and if it is still on your mind a few days later than purchase it.
WI Member & Secretary Denise Hoggard and Husband Dwayne talked about Financial Wellness.
55% of Women are playing a more significant role in household financial decisions. We want to see that number grow. Since history shows that women outlive their husbands, it’s time to be in the know and take control! Reminder of all the sub-groups each group has a Facebook page that can be found in the WIW WI Facebook page.
Dinner Groups; Contact Elaine Tully [email protected] or Janice Kyle [email protected] if you wish to join an existing dinner group.
Book Club: Contact, Keri Bishop [email protected] , they meet the 1st Thursday of the month 7-9pm at Keri’s house 61 William Street, Paris.
Walking Club: Contact, Sarah Whittam [email protected] .
Singing Group: Contact, Allison Adams [email protected] , they meet the 3rd Wednesday of the Month.
Cards & Games Group: Contact, Denise Hoggard [email protected] , Events will be posted as they are planned.
*New Group: Urban Farmers: Contact, Allie Hyndman [email protected], regarding first event posted on WIW WI Facebook page.
-Thank you to all of those that donated to Crossing All Bridges. Sad news about the recent break in! The funds raised will hopefully help towards replacing any needed things lost in the break in. Exciting news that they are looking to expand and will be moving into the old St. Bernard’s Elementary school in Brantford. Advocacy will be looking into fundraising soon to go towards their new facility.
We need 2 or 3 people to help with planning our April 12th Potluck BIRTHDAY PARTY! Message Ellaine if you are interested!
Next Executive meeting will be Wednesday January 17th at Marilyn’s home.
Allison Adam, Treasurer:
Financial report bank balance is $276.00 awaiting one balance to be paid.
Michelle Sanderson, Advocacy:
-Quarter Auction plans are well on their way.
-She has the supplies and all the vendors.
-Scouts will be helping us night of Auction as well
- She will need some volunteers to come out early to set up and take down night of the Quarter Auction.
-Michelle gave us a run through of how a Quarter Auction is ran.
February WI Meeting will be at 7pm at Telfer Place. Keeping the community folks company for an evening of singing and have tea and treats. Any business needing to be tended to will follow social.
Volunteers for cookies at Telfer house are Denise H and Jennifer B.
March WI Meeting will be at the Woodland Cultural Centre for a tour and talk of the museum and former residential school. Carpooling is an idea for anyone coming from Paris or St. George.
