Janice Kyle Rose Coordinator introduced our speaker Barry Hill. See Biography Attached. He has recently received the Farm Family of the Year Award and Inducted to the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame

Sarah Hamilton Vice President:
Roll Call was, to recognize International Women’s day, name a woman that had a positive impact on your life. Many of the answers were similar. Mom, grandma, daughter, Aunt, friend.
Business:
Visiting New Dundee members from New Dundee WIW WI Branch invites us out to April 7th A Women’s Day Event.Hosted by Waterloo District Women's InstituteTopics: Cardiac Disease presented by St. Mary's Hospital Cardiac Care Centre, Fashion Show by Nygard and Zamira Grand Harmony Quartet.
Location: Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church, 1531 Bridge Street West, New Dundee, ON
Time: 8:45am (Registration)
Registration: $40 includes lunch. Final registration deadline is March 30, 2018.

Reminder that The Adelaide Hoodless Homestead is having their annual Easter Egg Hunt March 30th 2018, 10-1pm $20 a family. There will be face painting, a petting zoo, and cookies to decorate.

Barry Discussed;
- Accepting the story and trying to convince other people to promote fair mindfulness.
- Why there were residential schools.
- Indigenous people that were not Christian they were considered non-human
- The confederacy of 5 nations
- Described its people’s calendar year and ceremonies
- Long House community
- Society- faith keepers/medicine men etc.
- “Seven Years war”. History of French and English not getting along. Natives making peace.
- Magna Carta of Indigenous affairs. Treaties, and the Indian Act.
- “The 6 Nations” are the most documented groups. But there are many many more nations unheard of out there.
- Quote from John Rolston: “We are not a civilization of British or French or European inspiration. We never have been. Our society is not an expression of peace, order and good government. It never was. We feel it would be right for us to act in a way, a way right and true to ourselves.”

Business:
- Quarter Auction was very successful, thank you to Michelle Sanderson and Jane with all their help. It sounds like it will be an annual event. We made $1109.95 at the quarter auction.
- Alison Adams Treasurer; stated Bank balance to be $1155.95.
- Marilyne reminded everyone of the Taste of Brant. Taking place in Burford April 12th and 13th. We will be donating pies to be served to the volunteers that help at that event. The Taste of Brant is at the Burford fairgrounds where students all over Brant county go to learn about agriculture.
- We have our CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Foundation) One Brave Night coming up April 6th at “The Den “In Paris Presbyterian Church. 164 Grand River Street North, Paris, Ontario N3L 2M6 Starting at 7pm. We are fundraising for mental health awareness. Look for our Team “Adelaide Hoodlums” at www.onebravenight.ca/
- April 12th’s Meeting will be re-instating of WI Executive committee. If you are interested in taking on a leadership role or be more involved in decisions being made consider joining the WI Executive committee. Positions are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, ROSE Coordinator, Program Coordinator, Membership Coordinator, Internal Communications Coordinator, Public Relations Coordinator, Tweedsmuir Coordinator, District and Alternative Representative. If any of these roles appeal to you contact Marilyn Sewell, [email protected] or Janice Kyle, [email protected].
- April’s meeting will be 6pm start and will be our Birthday party celebration. Bring a gift to be raffled off or a dish for potluck. Also bring plate and cutlery. Giving this meeting will be monetary to Nova Vita.
- May 12th is the Girl Guides Mother’s Day Tea, Contact Janice Kyle if you can make it out.
